Mr. Antonio Silva-Delgado is a Business Strategy Consultant in the Corporate Practice Group of the Firm. Mr. Silva-Delgado is part of the Firm’s Government Affairs Practice Team. He concentrates his practice in general corporate, government affairs and taxes.
Prior to joining Reichard & Escalera, Mr. Silva-Delgado served in the House of Representatives for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico for 28 years representing his hometown Bayamón. While at the House of Representatives, Mr. Silva-Delgado was Chairman of the Treasury and Budget Committee for eight years. He was also a member of several other important committees, such as the Government, Banking, Insurance, Economic Development, Planning, Commerce, Industry and Telecommunications, Tourism Industry Development, Consumer Affairs and the Public Service Retirement System Committees. He was also Chairman of the Legislative Donations Special Committee for eight years.
Mr. Silva-Delgado has broad networking in the Puerto Rico business community as well as all three branches of government. As Chairman of the Treasury and Budget committee, he was responsible for enacting and passing the fiscal, tax and financial policies of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, including the elaboration of the Sales and Use Tax provisions enacted as part of the 2006 Puerto Rico Tax Code. He also worked on the Tax Reform for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico under the administration of Governor Luis A. Fortuño, among others.
Through the years in public service he has been recipient of many recognitions and awards. Among others, he received the “Person of the Year Award” by The Caribbean Business in 2005, “The Great Boricua Award” from UBS, and the Bayamón Chamber of Commerce’s “Person of the Year in Public Service” in 2006. For the 150 year anniversary celebration of Banco Bilbao Viscaya he was awarded the prestigious “Premio Esencia de Puerto Rico 2007”. He also received the “Medal of Excellence in Public Service” in 2007. From the Association of Shipping Companies of Puerto Rico, and from the Consular Body of Puerto Rico he received the “Consular Merit Award”.
Mr. Silva obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting and management from the Bayamón Central University of Puerto Rico (cum laude).
